Timber Frame Foreman

Waterloo, ON

Earthscape Play is an award-winning custom playground design-build firm. Our main office and fabrication shop are located in Wallenstein, just outside of Elmira, Ontario (Waterloo Region).

Who are we?

We are a group of young, ambitious, creative dreamers and builders who work hard and are exceptionally proud of what we design and create. Our design and engineering team members aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and our installation crews know that we trust, and highly-value, their work. It makes for an environment that is extremely positive, productive, fun and rewarding, though admittedly, a bit stressful at times.

What do we need?

We are looking for a Timber Frame Foreman to join our shop team – this is a full-time position. What we build isn’t typical of playground equipment or traditional carpentry projects. Our playgrounds are epic play spaces. Before you apply, you must visit www.earthscapeplay.com to see what you would be building!

Who are we looking for?

As a Timber Frame Foreman, you:

  • will work with an experienced team of engineers, architectural fabricators, wood craftspeople and carpenters and will bring your keen eye for construction design to help us figure out how to best build our playground structures and sculptures;
  • enjoy physical work with large timbers to build custom designed playable-wood sculptures;
  • must know how to read construction drawings from our Engineering department;
  • be competent in operating all types of standard wood shop machinery;
  • have excellent problem solving skills – our designers and Engineers are constantly looking for feedback on how best to construct our unique playground pieces;
  • will be a critical part of conversations to discuss what worked and what didn’t work for each project;
  • may have the opportunity to travel to installation sites across North America to supervise the installation of the sculptures and structures.

You will work alongside, or under the direction of, the Carpentry Foreman in our brand new, state-of-the-art 800 sq.m. Wallenstein shop.

What’s in it for you?

This job offers the opportunity to work on some of North America’s most interesting playground projects. The pace, challenges and problem-solving opportunities mean you will never be bored. You will have the opportunity to develop and refine a wide variety of skills in our rapidly growing business.

We believe in great compensation for great employees, and we reward our staff with a combination of:
– profit sharing and performance bonuses
– overtime pay
– award-winning projects and designs
– up to date equipment, including trucks
– no management hassles, and great colleagues
– benefits for full-time and regular seasonal employees
