Confederation Park

Client: City of Calgary
Collaboration: Ground3Wilco Contractors SW
Location: Calgary, AB
Completion Date: Spring 2017
Construction Budget: $250,000 – $500,000

Confederation Park was created to celebrate Canada’s Centennial in 1967.  As one of Calgary’s significant cultural landscapes, a new playground was designed to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, featuring a large tipped over Voyageur canoe sculpture.

Children can let their imagination run wild as they climb over and under the sculpture that appears to be beached, resting on a large boulder.  A multi-level fort tower is accessed via climbing nets and rewards children with a thrilling 4.5m (14′) slide.  Timber steppers in the junior area challenge children’s balance and develop their agility. Kids can enjoy a tactile experience and get creative while playing with the water pump in the sand.

The site includes multiple seating areas on custom timber benches and stone seat walls.  Trees and shrubs among the play features add interest and texture.  Most importantly, they will provide necessary shade while children play.
