Playgroundology blogger plays with food at St. James Park playground

Alex Smith, blogger and playground advocate, visited the construction site for the St. James Park playground on a recent trip to Toronto. Accompanying him was his daughter, Nellie-Rose, and playground-tester extraordinaire. The Halifax-based blogger is the creator of the world-renowned Playgroundology blog, which documents the past, present and future of playgrounds. He is a huge advocate of play in all shapes and forms and curates really interesting content about nature play and risky play.

We were honoured to have him stop by our St. James Park playground construction site to get a sneak peak of what kids in downtown Toronto have in store for them! He and his daughter got the inside scoop with Earthscape designer Alex Waffle while they were on site. Donning their safety helmets, the group explored the larger-than-life sculptures and structures that make this playground truly unique. The playground structures are market-themed to reflect the heritage of the nearby St. Lawrence Market. Kids will soon be able to climb all over their asparagus, balance on their carrots, and top it off with an ice cream cone!
