LAbash 2019 – Storytelling through Play

Presenting an educational session at LAbash 2019 meant a trip down memory lane for Laura and Dan, two of our playground designers and project managers.  An annual event, LAbash is a gathering of Landscape Architecture students from across Canada and the United States.  It was first hosted at the University of Guelph, Laura and Dan’s alma mater almost 50 years ago and is now an annual tradition, hosted at Universities across the continent.

At this year’s event, held at the University of Georgia in Athens, Laura and Dan hosted a workshop entitled “Storytelling through Play – An ideation workshop for children’s playgrounds” with Landscape Architecture students.  Participants learned about playground theory and design and then worked through a case study to propose a design of their own.
