The custom playground at Rise Park in Irvine, California connects children to the natural world as they become friends and playmates with a pair of 8 foot tall Yellow Warblers. The bird sculptures sit in a nest of twigs protecting their eggs.
Designed in collaboration with BrightView Design Group for FivePoint the project brings to life the natural beauty and life of the surrounding landscape. With great emphasis on designing unique, beautiful and functional park spaces, this playground reflects the developer’s commitment to educating and stimulating children as they interact with the playground structures and sculptures.
The two large Warblers are connected by a log jam. Perched on a hill, younger children can explore and hideaway inside the bird house. An oversized warbler feather lies on the hill among log steppers with special etched carvings of bird foot prints.
Three smaller play pods include the warbler eggs, a smaller log jam with bird etchings and a small chainsaw-carved warbler bird sculpture. The warbler bird is similar to the Blue Jay and Cardinal birds at Joyner Park across the country in Wake Forest, North Carolina!
